New Interview of Dakota in iO Donna Italy [December 29th, 2018]

Yet it is angelicata. Able to make a diva entry even in a Sabbath, resistant to all effects of the "terrible" that the director Luca Guadagnino built around her and the other ladies of Suspiria (Tilda Swinton, Mia Goth, Sylvie Testud, Angela Winkler), Dakota Johnson actually exudes delicacy. In the cruelty of history of which the film is nourished (six acts and an epilogue set in Berlin in 1977, close to the Wall, in the background the tug of war between the German government and the kidnappers of the head of Confindustria Hanns-Martin Schleyer, ex-officer of the SS) she brings beauty: in the den of witches that is the Markos Tanz Company enters dancing. Dance macabre, of course, but very powerful. Susie/Dakota hovers higher and higher and, at every jump, a more ferocious blow hits the body of a poor unhappy woman who dared to doubt the power of witches.

Power and repression, the mother as an archetypal figure (that of Susie the bubble right away, in the distant Ohio from which it comes, as "seed of evil"), the oblivion of the past (the great German removed) and the need to understand it , even psychoanalyzed: climb on the carousel of the film - which is a horror but, to want us to do the accounts, is more scary when you have already left the cinema - gives dizziness. Yet Dakota Johnson, pedigree and experience, knows that she will have to come down to earth and answer questions about magic and mystery and she does it with grace and discipline: "As a child I believed and believe in it now...but not abracadabra...Oh my God, how can I say it without being extrapolated from the context and someone titles:" Dakota Johnson is obsessed with magic"? ».

They just gave her a pregnancy for freeing blue balloons (so it was a boy) on her birthday with her boyfriend Chris Martin. They had given her a nervous breakdown for working in a film like this, "psychologically intense". Yet there is no joke that those lips can not pronounce. As a professional: atrocious and merciful, as required (the essence of dance? "Like fucking." "A man?" "I thought of an animal" the answer).

Spectators and critics come out of Suspiria's projections with mixed feelings, fear, certain discomfort, but also an unexpected sadness. Would you have expected it?

Dakota: Suspiria speaks of an autumn. Of Germany, of Europe, and of its sense of guilt. My character comes from afar, from a religious community closed to the outside world, the two stories are born of mourning. There are many reasons for sadness. But there is plenty of blood, on the set we had to be careful not to slide over...

New Interview of Dakota with Margaret Gardiner

I feel safe as an actress...

I think the wonderful thing about this work is that I discover a lot about myself and my abilities as well as the depth of my abilities. I feel comfortable in my work, I do not know everything, but I like to learn. I love learning, I love working, I love making movies. So I always feel like having fun and doing something fresh. I think I feel safer to know that I can do this job, but I will never feel good enough.

I learned everything from my grandmother...

(Her grandmother is Tippi Hedren, known for roles in Hitchock movies like The Birds and Marnie and the less successful Citizen Ruth). I have a very good relationship with my grandmother. I just talked to her by phone and she came to the premiere tonight. I would like to know what she would like from this movie because this genre is her field. I love her and I respect my grandmother. I admire her. She is such a lady, she is a very elegant and intelligent woman. And she always been. She does not trust anyone or something for her well-being, she is very self-sufficient and I think it's impressive.

How I feel about 50 Shades...

It was very intense and I learned a lot. A nice experience. I love those movies. I have nothing bad to say about them. I am very grateful to them, I learned so much about myself, about cooperation, about the industry, about how important it is to have fun doing this job, I will not change anything about it. Will I do it again? Yes, if I was back in my circumstances before those movies, I would certainly do them again, they led my career to a very incredible place and I also grew so much. So, even though there were clashes in the way, I learned from them and they made me resilient.

The cruelest thriller I've ever seen...

Is the news. This is my answer.

New Interview of Dakota for ELLE Canada

Jewellery is always a good idea.

When I'm at a loss for what to gift someone, I often Google to see what celebrities have been giving and receiving. My reasoning for this: at a certain point, outlandishly expensive gifts must be seen as a cop out (how many more times can the Kardashian-Jenners gift one another luxury cars?) so they really have to come up with something crazy obscure or meaningful. During a recent press event for Gucci Bloom I tested this theory, and asked Dakota Johnson, who is a face of the fragrance, to talk all things gifting.

Below, she shares the best gift she's ever given and why she thinks the Queen of England would wear Gucci Bloom.

WHAT ARE THE RULES FOR GIVING SOMEONE A FRAGRANCE AS A GIFT?

That’s really tricky. Either you’re giving a scent because it’s something that you’re re-gifting to somebody or you really want someone to smell a certain way.

New Interview of Dakota with La Vanguardia [Spain]

What attracted her to this remake?

Dakota: It provoked me. There are many reasons why I choose movies and in this case many components come together. I think the combination of emotions and intellect in this film can work as a trigger for many things and I liked that. I think that art has to make you feel things and although when you go out of seeing Suspiria you stay very well, you will walk away from the cinema thinking, and that is something that makes me proud.

Had she seen the original?

Dakota: I saw it when Luca Guadagnino invited me to participate in his version. We were on the set of A Bigger Splash and he asked me if I had seen Suspiria and I answered no. He proposed that I act on his version and I said yes without having seen it. But when I sat down to see it, I understood how it has influenced many of my favorite directors. Maybe it's a phase, but last year I devoted myself to making genre films, something I never imagined, much less that they were as intense as this one. I must admit that filming this film has helped me to understand horror movies from a different perspective.
