"Black Mass" will be screened at the Telluride Film Festival
The 42nd annual Telluride Film Festival promises yet another eclectic mix of fall Oscar hopefuls looking for a leg up on the season and international festival favorites hoping to make waves on these shores.
In addition, films bowing in Venice set to hustle back across eight time zones for North American bows include Scott Cooper’s Whitey Bulger biopic “Black Mass” with Johnny Depp, Cary Fukunaga’s West African civil war pic “Beasts of No Nation” with Idris Elba and Tom McCarthy’s newsroom drama “Spotlight” with Michael Keaton.

Dakota to attend at the "Miu Miu: Women's Takes at Venice Days" Event today!
From 10 Magazine: Wouldn’t it be nice to be Miuccia Prada? For many reasons of course, but mostly because her life seems so filled with stimulating, cultural activities and intellectual pursuits – like tomorrow, when she will celebrate the film series, Miu Miu: Women’s Tales, a collection of short films by female directors, at Venice Days. This, for those less culturally astute than Ms Prada, this is a film festival, part of the larger Venice Film Festival, celebrating the best of independent directorial talent. Naturally, Miuccia will be joined by the creme de la creme of the film and art world, including Stacy Martin, Hailee Steinfeld, Alfonso Cuaròn and Dakota Johnson, to name but a few. Premiering at the festival are two of the latest short films in the series – “De Djess” directed by Alice Rohrwacher, and “Les 3 Boutons” by Agnès Varda. You can watch a short preview of Varda’s film at miumiu.com – it features goats being milked, a floating dress and magical buttons. So basically, why would you not?

I know exactly what I'm doing, I'm very focused on it, and the casting is fundamental. James Foley officially offered to directing "Fifty Shades Darker"

James Foley has been officially offered the job to direct the “Fifty Shades of Grey” sequel after news broke two weeks ago that he was Universal’s top choice for the project.
Deadline Hollywood first reported that Foley was a front-runner for “Fifty Shades Darker” and sources now tell Variety that negotiations are expected to start shortly. Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson are attached to reprise their roles, with author E.L. James, Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti producing. James’ husband, Niall Leonard, penned the script.
Execs had been meeting with directors over the past several months since Sam Taylor-Johnson, who directed the first film in the trilogy, announced that she would not be returning to helm.
Production will begin in the first quarter of 2016, with the film set to bow on Feb. 14, 2017. Casting should get under way once Foley’s deal is worked out.
Foley directed several stylish dramas in the 1980s and ’90s, including “After Dark, My Sweet,” “At Close Range,” “Fear” and “Glengarry Glen Ross.” His first film was the 1984 romance “Reckless,” which starred Daryl Hannah and Aidan Quinn as lovers from opposite backgrounds. He most recently worked on Netflix’s “House of Cards.”

"A Bigger Splash" set for May Release in USA
From Variety: Fox Searchlight has set a May 13 release in the U.S. for Tilda Swinton’s drama “A Bigger Splash.”
The film, directed by Luca Guadagnino from a screenplay by David Kajganich, will premiere at theVenice Film Festival on Sept. 6.
Swinton portrays a rock legend on holiday on the volcanic island of Pantelleria with her partner, played by Matthias Schoenaerts. Their stay is disrupted when a record producer and old flame (Ralph Fiennes) unexpectedly arrives with his daughter, portrayed by Dakota Johnson.
The project is one of Variety‘s 30 most-anticipated films of Oscar season.
Swinton and Guadagnino collaborated on the 2009 film “I Am Love.”
