From TheHollywoodReporter:
Dakota Johnson, Rebel Wilson, Dan Stevens and Leslie Mann are in negotiations to star in New Line's romantic comedy How to Be Single.
Christian Ditter (Love, Rosie) will helm the film, which is based on the novel of the same name by Liz Tuccillo, published by Atria in 2008.
The film is an ensemble comedy, said to be similar in style to other projects with multiple, intersecting storylines like He’s Just Not That Into You and Valentine’s Day. The story focuses on singlehood from both the female and male perspectives, and suggests it is not our relationships, but our single times in between, that define us. Topics of single life that will be explored include: blind dating, when to get married, casual sex and fear of commitment.
Alison Brie who was circling the film in mid-2014 is also in final negotiations as the film gears up to shoot in April in New York. The comedy is slated for release just in time for Valentine's Day on Feb. 12, 2016.
Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein wrote the original draft, and Dana Fox worked on the current draft.
Fox and John Rickard are producing while Marcus Viscidi, Nancy Juvonen and Drew Barrymore are executive producing. Michael Disco and Dave Neustadter are overseeing the comedy for New Line.
Johnson stars in Universal's highly anticipate adaptation of EL James' Fifty Shades of Grey, hitting theaters in February. She’s also wrapped work on Black Mass, A Bigger Splash and Chloe and Theo. She’s repped by WME and Management 360.
