New Interview of Dakota with GMA News about "Our Friend"

Los Angeles — Dakota Johnson may have shocked you when the sweet-faced daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith portrayed Anastasia “Ana” Steele in the erotic romantic drama hit franchise, “Fifty Shades of Grey.”

Now the 31-year-old actress is displaying her acting chops in dramatic vehicle "Our Friend" starring Casey Affleck and Jason Segel. Dakota talks of her choice of the role, her famous parents, her friends, what she learned about herself and relationships:

From “Fifty Shades of Grey” to this dramatic role in “Our Friend.” Tell us why you chose this role?

Dakota: It is an incredible story, a beautifully written script and I loved everyone involved in this film.

Your character Nicole is dying of cancer. Have you ever found yourself taking care of someone who is terminally ill?

Dakota: Yeah, I have been in that situation before. It was a very challenging experience to feel helpless and you have to do everything in the world to help someone get better.

What did you learn from the film?

Dakota: The main thing I learned from the film was how important it is to show up for people when they need you. That we have to be compassionate for someone.

New Project: Dakota to star in Tig Notaro and Stephanie Allynne's Untitled Project

 Video

Information

  • According to IMDb, Dakota will be playing a lesbian called Lucy. They will start shooting on February 1st in Los Angeles.
  • From Deadline: One Mississippi duo Tig Notaro and Stephanie Allynne are set to make their feature directorial debut with a new untitled feature inspired by the real-life story of Lauren Pomerantz, head writer on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

  • Notaro and Allynne will co-direct a mostly autobiographical script written from Pomerantz. Gloria Sanchez and Level Forward will produce the pic which will explore the complicated and oftentimes wonderfully ridiculous dynamics of female friendship, self-discovery, and societal expectations

The yet-to-be-titled project follows thirtysomethings Lucy and Jane who have been best friends their entire lives. They’ve learned pretty much everything about life and each other from one another. Below the surface, however, are things unknown, or at least not quite accepted, which Lucy hides from Jane and — herself. Only when Lucy embarks on a personal journey, will she face a test of her friendship, and her sense of self, on a path she may not be entirely ready to take.

New Interview of Dakota with ETalk

It turns out that our citrus meme queen Dakota Johnson lied to us about loving limes after all. As you may very well know, in her home tour video with Architectural Digest, which went viral last year, Dakota showed off two large bowls full of limes in her kitchen. The limes became a classic meme of the quarantine times because who needs that many limes in their life?

“I love limes. I love them. They’re great. I love them so much, and I like to present them like this in my house,” Dakota said in the AD home tour video, which apparently was untrue. It just so happens that etalk’s Chloe Wilde got the tea from the actress herself about her lime allergy when discussing the home tour this week.

Dakota revealed to Chloe that the limes were brought into her house that day to set up for the shoot. “I’m also allergic to limes. I found out, so it’s a total disaster,” she said, shocking the whole world at once before diving into a story about a lemon tree outside her house that really leaves us with tons more citrus questions than we ever thought we would have for Dakota Johnson.

The Fifty Shades actress said that her lemon tree grows downwards, which sounds like some type of Harry Potter spell gone wrong. “Now I have this upside-down lemon tree, and they hang a foot off the ground, the lemons. It’s really silly,” she said. Silly lemons, killer limes, Dakota's home really is a wonderland.

Dakota also wants you to know that if you’ve been posting TikTok tributes of her AD shoot, she hasn’t even seen them because she doesn’t understand the ins and outs of TikTok. “My sister sent me one TikTok thing, but I’m not on TikTok, and I don’t understand how to even see things on there, so I don’t know what has happened with that video. But it’s really flattering and amazing that people like my house.”
