The Hollywood actress and AnOther Magazine cover star reveals her objects of desire exclusively for @anotherloves [check it on the web]

This week AnOther Magazine unveiled its brand new Instagram account, @anotherloves – a reader-driven stream of covetable objects to discover, share and love. And what a launch it's been. The inimtable Rick Owens kickstarted proceedings with a typically off-kilter takeover; Comme des Garçons offered an exclusive selection of its annual Christmas RED Celebration project (the ideal festive gift inspiration); and for the ultimate Friday finale, AnOther's A/W15 cover star Dakota Johnson has selected the objects that she's currently coveting. Among them, an evocative Tracey Emin light sculpture, a Theolonius Monk record, and this week's Most Loved post – a candid portrayal of romance by American street and sports photographer James Startt.
Startt, who is now based in Paris, has been lensing pavement culture since he was a photography student at Indiana University during the 1980s. "I told my teachers back then that I wanted to make pictures like Alfred Hitchcock made films. Not like photographic film noirs but like the master of suspense," he once revealed. "I sought to create images that were simple and accessible at first glance, but sufficiently intriguing so that viewers would want to return to them." And it's fair to say that he has succeeded, his street photographs momentary portholes into the lives of others that leave the viewer concocting farfetched stories as to who and what they might be.
In Johnson's chosen photograph, a young female couple, decked in matching double denim, gently rest their hands on each other's behinds, while an elderly pair in equally uniform shades of beige, march purposefully past them in the opposite direction. But what about this picture most captures Johnson's imagination? "It makes me feel super excited about denim and also about people in love in denim," she explains, "and also touching bums in denim!"
Here, as our first official Lover of the Week since the reincarnation of @anotherloves, Johnson sheds light on even more of her favourite photographic works, her dream interior and the songs she can't stop listening to.
Gena Rowlands and John Cassavetes
On another great example of love on camera...
"Another of my favorite photographs is this one of Gena Rowlands and John Casavettes. Gena being my all time hero, and the two of them being one of the greatest loves of all time."
Tippi Hedren as Marnie Edgar (1964)
On a much-loved family photograph...
"This photograph of my grandmother Tippi Hedren, because she is the most beautiful and inspirational woman on the planet."
On her other favourite sounds...
"I have recently been obsessively listening to I Love You (Me Neither) by my lovely friend Karen Elson and Cat Power. Why? I don’t know but I suggest you get on the train. Finally The Pretenders album The Singles is very dear to my heart – suitable for ANY occasion. Think about it."
The living room of Dion Neutra's house on Neutra Place in Silver Lake
On her dream interior...
"Dion Neutra’s living room beautifully portraying Neutra's early “nature-near” philosophy. Perfect for the woman feeling simultaneously domesticated and feral... Me!"
Special thanks to @dakotajohnson
